I think the real bad habit is the silly Jughead cap that Smoking Boy is wearing.  Did anyone actually wear those things?  Where did you get them?  Who designed this hat?  Was this an early feeble attempt at setting yourself apart from the grown-ups and saying, "I'm a teenager!"  The ancient ancestor of the nose ring, the tongue stud, and those stupid pants that show off your underwear?

I also think the juxtaposition of Smoking Boy with Nail Chewing Boy is interesting.  While Smoking Boy has DELINQUENT written all over him, Nail Chewing Boy has neat hair, glasses, and wears what appears to be a suit. In other words, he's a NERD.  So the message is, "Don't be a delinquent, but don't be a nerd either."  Just stick with baseball and you'll be fine.
