Furniture or FUN-iture? Why do so many Roger That! cards feature furniture?  Is it because we saw there was a FUTURE in FURNITURE?  Or did we realize it would be FUN?  Or maybe a good FIT?  Did it stoke a creative FIRE?  Did we think it would UNITE the world?  Is it because we feel FUR is murder?  Did something raise our IRE?* Actually, there's a whole different reason that has nothing to do with anagrams.  I used to only have one furniture-themed greeting card:  Have You a Chair This Beautiful, (look to yer left).  What happened was that I got this call from a gal who worked for a furniture restoration company over in Gardena.  She saw my Have You a Chair card and her boss flipped over it.  She says her boss is really into chairs and wants to know if we have any other chair cards.  Well, this was back in the day when Roger That! was a lot more accommodating, so I says to the gal, I says, "Um.  Give me a couple of days."  So then I gets to work, making as many furniture-themed cards as I can.  It was no picnic, I'll tell you.  Furniture does not lend itself to compelling greeting card design.  But here you see that I did manage to come up with a few things.  That furniture company ended up buying a couple of the cards in gross, and even had me design their Christmas card for three years!  If you think coming up with furniture cards is hard, try coming up with furniture Christmas cards.  To make a long story long, that's basically why I have all these goddamn furniture cards.  I've cornered the market, I'm sure.  * Imagine how long I could keep this up if I took the letters out of order!
