How We Got Stupid

There are two types of people I find instantly annoying.  (Actually, there are two million types of people I find instantly annoying, but we don't have all day.)   The first type is the person who says, "Oh, yeah, I got all straight A's in school but I never went to class or anything."  The second is the person who says, "Oh, I'm so out of it!  I've never even heard of [some mildly embarrassing but extremely well-known television show or celebrity];  that's what happens when you never watch TV!"  Actually, the person who says the first thing will often end up saying the second thing, plus a lot of other passive aggressive, "me so smart" comments that are all aimed at establishing I AM YOUR INTELLECTUAL SUPERIOR BUT I'M ALSO REALLY, REALLY POLITE.  Jesus Christ.  I sound really bitter.   Why do I even worry about this shit?
